Caboolture Special School Week 1, Term 3, 2025
Principal News
Principal’s Welcome – Term 3
Dear Caboolture Special School community members
A very warm welcome to the new students and families who have joined our school community; it’s a pleasure to have you with us. To our returning families, welcome back. I hope the break provided some rest and time together, and we’re looking forward to another productive and engaging term ahead.
We are proud to share that our school continues to grow rapidly, with increasing enrolments and a strong reputation for providing high-quality education. This term, we celebrate the addition of several new staff members, each bringing valuable skills, experience, and energy. These educators join a dedicated and high-performing team who are deeply committed to our students’ success and wellbeing.
We also take this opportunity to celebrate the pleasing academic results achieved by students in Semester 1. These results reflect the efforts of our learners, the expertise of our teaching staff, and the support provided at home. Congratulations to all students who worked hard and made strong progress in their learning.
At the heart of our school is our commitment to our core values: respect, growth, and belonging. These values shape the way we learn and work together every day in the classroom, the playground, and the broader community. We encourage students to live these values as they learn, collaborate, and develop into kind, confident learners and citizens.
Home–School Partnerships
We strongly believe in the power of positive home–school partnerships. Regular, two-way communication between families and the school is key to supporting every student’s success. One of the best ways to stay connected is through the SeeSaw app. If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to join SeeSaw and connect with our school to stay up to date with classroom learning, school news, and your child’s achievements. Your child's class teacher or our office staff can assist with any general SeeSaw enquiries.
Important Dates and Celebrations

NAIDOC Week Acknowledgements – Wednesday 30 July
Given the official NAIDOC Week falls during the school holidays, schools are supported to acknowledge NAIDOC Week at other times as they deem appropriate. Our school will hold a NAIDOC Week celebration on Wednesday 30 July, with event details to be shared soon. We are also proud to be represented at local community NAIDOC events, including those hosted by Lee Street State Special School and Morayfield East State School. Thank you to those representing our school and community at these important events.
Creative Generation Performances – Brisbane - https://creativegeneration.education.qld.gov.au/
Best of luck to our students participating in the Creative Generation performances in Brisbane. We are incredibly proud of your talents and commitment. A big thank you goes to the staff, parents, and carers who have supported the preparation and rehearsals; your contributions make this opportunity possible.
Sports Day – Wednesday 14 August
We’re looking forward to a fun and energetic Sports Day on Wednesday 14 August. This is a great opportunity for students to show teamwork and house spirit. Families are warmly invited to attend and cheer on our young athletes.
As we move into Term 3, we look forward to building on the strong foundation established in Semester 1. Together, let’s continue to support our students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, guided by our shared values of respect, growth, and belonging.

Best wishes

Welcome back to term three everyone!
This is a jam-packed term full of fun and adventures.
Creative Generations on Stage
Our first adventure this term is Creative Generations on Stage. Seven students are representing the school this week at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Ayla, Indy-Lee, Harrison, Isaac, Latarna, Millie and Noah are joining almost 2000 other students from Queensland State Schools around the state and will be performing their dance at 5 separate shows! It is a very long and tiring week, but the rewards are incredible.
A big thank you to the families for helping us by being on time for the very early starts and very late nights and weekend! Thank you also to the staff team supporting me to make this happen; Lucie Reay, Micheline Mikulec, Jess Carle and Katie Holmes. Without this support, we would not be able to make this opportunity happen.

Welcome Back! Looking forward to a safe and successful Term 3!
We hope everyone had a restful and joyful holiday break! As we begin this new term, it is the perfect time to remind our school community about the importance of safety and respectful behaviour. Creating a safe environment where every student feels confident and supported is our top priority.
Spotlight on Learning: Respect for Self, We use equipment safely
This fortnight, our students are focusing on learning strategies to use equipment safely. Whether it’s during playtime, in practical lessons, or everyday activities, knowing how to handle equipment responsibly helps prevent accidents and keeps everyone safe. Some key strategies students are practicing include:
- Always checking equipment before use to ensure it’s in good condition.
- Following instructions carefully when using any tools or play equipment.
- Asking for help when unsure about how to use something safely.
A Thought to Remember
“Safety doesn’t happen by accident.” This simple but powerful reminder encourages us all to be mindful and careful every day. When we all take responsibility for safety, our school becomes a better place to learn and grow.
NAIDOC Week Celebrations – A Visit to Morayfield East State School
I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Morayfield East State School as part of their NAIDOC Week celebrations. NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of First Nations peoples, and this visit helped deepen our students’ understanding of the importance of reconciliation, respect, and unity. We thank Morayfield East State School for their warm welcome and for sharing such a powerful celebration with us.
National Pyjama Day – Friday 25 July 2025
Get ready to get comfy! On Friday, 25 July, we’re inviting all students to wear their favourite pyjamas to school as we take part in National Pyjama Day, a special initiative by The Pyjama Foundation. This day helps raise awareness and funds to support children living in foster care.
Wearing pyjamas is a fun way to show we care while supporting a very important cause. The money raised goes directly to The Pyjama Foundation’s Love of Learning Program, which pairs volunteers (called Pyjama Angels) with children in care to help improve literacy, numeracy, and life skills.
With over 45,000 children in foster care across Australia—many of whom face major educational challenges—this program offers vital support and hope.
If you would like to donate, please follow this link: https://fundraise.thepyjamafoundation.com/event/npd/donate
We hope to see everyone in their cosiest pyjamas!
Take care.

Curriculum Corner
Our classes have begun the term with a terrific start as teachers introduce their new learning contexts for the semester. Please take a look at the learning contexts for our prep curriculum (classes 1-8), lower curriculum (classes 9-19 & 21-24) and upper curriculum (classes 20 & 25-37) below to support your knowledge of your child/ren’s learning.
Our classroom teachers are also supported by School Priorities Teachers (SPT's) who deliver the HPE/Science subjects across the school. Please see below for these learning contexts for semester two also.
We have many exciting events and activities organised for our students throughout the term. During the next few weeks, we will engage in NAIDOC week acknowledgements and dance workshops for upper school students.
We look forward to delivering a semester of engaging and educational curriculum to suit all our learners’ individual needs.
