Caboolture Special School Week 10, Term 2, 2024
Principal News
Dear Caboolture Special School community members
Welcome to the end of a very busy Term Two!
Over the 2 weeks of school holidays, I wish all of you a safe, healthy and happy time with family and friends.
I look forward to continuing to work with students, staff, parents, carers and school community members to ensure we achieve great outcomes for our students next term.
Student attendance
86.1% - thank you for the ongoing efforts here even during these cooler months. Every day counts at school.
2024 School Priorities
- Optimising effective communication processes for all learners.
- Strengthening Australian Curriculum (AC) implementation, with an increasing focus on numeracy and Respectful Relationships Education (RRE).
- Scaling up Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL).
We continue to make pleasing gains across all three areas of our key school improvement areas for 2024.
Student Academic Report Cards
All student academic report cards have been emailed home this afternoon. Teachers have been hard at work summarising the achievements of their classes and documenting the successes of their students over the past semester. We hope you enjoy reading them! Please advise the office if you do not receive your child's report card. If you require a printed copy, please let us know.
School Photos
School photos will be held on Tuesday 23 July. All student photo envelopes have been sent home. Please follow the instructions included on the envelope and return to the school office by Monday 22 July.
School resumes on Monday 8 July. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school for an exciting Term Three!
Best wishes and regards

Business Manager News
I would like to thank all of our Teacher Aides for the wonderful job they have done this Term supporting our young people in the classrooms, out in the playgrounds and as they move around our school.
Monday was School Cleaners’ Day; we appreciate and give thanks to all of our School Cleaners who ensure our teaching and learning areas are kept sparking clean.
We have had some work done around our school with improving our garden areas and these are now looking very nice. More work will occur over the school holidays to aid in continually improving our grounds and facilities.
Hope you all have a restful and relaxing holiday.
Kind regards
Margaret Waite
Acting Business Manager
Curriculum Corner
Semester 1 has been filled with so much learning and fun along the way. It has been a pleasure reviewing evidence collected and then reading through report cards that show the wide range of experiences our teachers prepare to engage our students and then how students have responded and enjoyed these.
Mathematics has been a target area this semester. We are making numeracy a priority area everyday and highlighting the power of engagement through games and play based learning.
Below are some examples of number learning experiences students have engaged with over the semester.
Looking forward to being refreshed and ready to learn after the break!

Head of Department - Curriculum
PBL News
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a framework that fosters a positive, safe and supportive school environment, enhancing social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for all students. PBL prioritises strong relationships and a safe and supportive learning culture. This semester, we introduced a new PBL matrix centered on our school rules. Teachers have been delivering focused lessons on these rules, exploring how they apply at school, home and in the community.
Recently we had our regional PBL coach visit to conduct our Tiered Fidelity Inventor which measures the extent of how school staff are implementing the core features of our school wide PBL matrix. When asked 100% of students could identify where their personal star charts were located and explain why they received stars/stickers on them. 91% of students could name our school rules and describe why they were important. This is a celebration of the consistent message students are receiving across the school and the student engagement with the PBL matrix.
To celebrate an awesome Semester of PBL, the Positive Behaviour for Learning team organised a disco for all students. The event celebrated the hard work of staff and students in embracing our new PBL matrix and engaging with the rules across the semester. It was so lovely to see staff and students enjoying the music, bubbles and disco lights whilst getting their groove on. I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable break and look forward to many more celebrations of PBL in Semester 2.
Happy Holiday Wishes
From your PBL Team
