Caboolture Special School Week 1, Term 2, 2024
Principal News
Dear Caboolture Special School community members
Welcome back and thank you for a terrific start to Term 2 2024.
I look forward to continuing to work with students, staff, parents, carers and school community members to ensure we achieve great outcomes for our students this term.
Student attendance
86.8% - thank you for the (ongoing) collective efforts here. Every day counts at school.
2024 School Priorities
- Optimising effective communication processes for all learners.
- Strengthening Australian Curriculum (AC) implementation, with an increasing focus on numeracy and Respectful Relationships Education (RRE).
- Scaling up Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL).
We are making pleasing gains across all three areas of our key school improvement areas for 2024.
ANZAC Day Acknowledgements
We acknowledged this important occasion at our school Assembly on Friday 19th April. Classes will continue to participate in appropriate discussions about ANZAC Day and its meaning in the lead up to ANZAC Day.
The ANZAC Day public holiday occurs on 25th April. On this day, as in previous years, we invite school community members to join our school representation at the Caboolture/Morayfield ANZAC Day March (9.30am) and/or Main Service (10.30am). Attending students are encouraged to wear their school uniform.
I look forward to seeing you around our wonderful school. Thanks for choosing Caboolture Special School for the education of your child(ren).
Best wishes from proud Principal

Deputy Principal
Welcome back to Term Two!
I hope everyone had an amazing time with family and friends over the school holiday break. It has been so exciting to see everyone back at school.
Students have been busy working this week on new topics for the term. It has been fabulous to be visiting classrooms and to see everyone so keen to be back at school working.
Creative Generations State Schools on Stage 2024
This term we are starting our rehearsals for Creative Generations State Schools on Stage 2024 (CGEN)! Thank you to all those parents and carers who nominated their child. We had so many applications this year and the team had a very tough decision to select the final team of eight students. Selection is based on a set of criteria that we use each year including year level/ age, interest level of the student in dancing, attendance, behaviour and staff nominations. The 8 students (and parents/ carers) who have been selected have been notified this week. We encourage those who may have missed out this year, to reapply next year for CGEN. The students will start their rehearsals with the CGEN team and Lucie Reay (Class Teacher) next week. If you are interested in attending CGEN2024 in July, tickets are now on sale via https://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=CREATIVE24
Bus Transport
If you are considering bus transport, please see administration as soon as you can. The process for bus approvals can take some weeks to process.
If you have any changes or edits to make to existing bus transport approvals, this can also take some time to approve. If you are moving house, please advise us as soon as possible.
In some cases, the buses may be full and there will be a waitlist.
If you no longer require bus transport, please make us aware as soon as possible. Other students may be waiting for these seats.
Medication
If your child has any updated health or medication information, please advise the office as soon as possible.
L Block Playground Enhancements
We have been excited to try out the new 'Sand Works' in the L Block Playground. The students are enjoying learning how to play together using this new equipment.

Welcome back to Term 2 everyone. I hope your holidays were enjoyable.
Walking around the school each day always fills me with a sense of pride and appreciation. Our students are enthusiastic and engaged learners and are supported with a variety of opportunities to showcase their learning in different ways.
I wanted to highlight the celebration of learning that I get to see on my walks and share some of them with you here.
Kynyn is one of our year 3 students in class O who was so proud of his writing work that he came to visit me in the office to show me. These moments are so valuable. Well done Kynyn!

Curriculum Corner
Our numeracy for this semester is to understand and use numbers in context. Students have been engaging with numbers and counting in a range of everyday experiences and structured lessons.
Below are some examples of students engaging in counting concepts across various curriculum levels.
How can you help at home?
Counting at any opportunity in the home – objects on the table, in the bath, in a book, counting steps, repeating and singing counting songs. Model one to one correspondence, this develops the understand that there is a sequence and that every time you count the sequence is the same.
Tips –
* Point to objects being counted
* Count slowly
* Line the objects up
